Oh no. Not Again.
Well, Fred is returning to surgery tomorrow. His Mast Cell Cancer has returned on his right front leg.
I am so aggravated with myself. When will I learn to listen to my instincts??? I found this growth in January and took him to the vet. He said it was most definitely a skin tag (in spite of the history of cancer). When it changed in size and behavior, I made an appointment with the oncologist. By the time the appointment rolled around, it was almost nothing. Such is the nature of Mast Cell, but I cancelled that appointment. This time when the growth flared, I just knew it. Fortunately, the oncologist here is very good-- I called Friday afternoon and Fred was in on Monday morning. She took a sample of the growth and did blood work, and surgery will be tomorrow in Tampa.
Oh, kathy -- I am so sorry for all of this. don't beat yourself up anymore. you are a wonderful dog owner (with great resources down there). Fred knows you love him and will take care of him, as you have every day since you got him. keep us in the loop. prayers for quick healing and recovery.
ReplyDeleteDear Frederick
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your surgery. I bet when you get home you will get new toys and balls to play with. I am so jealous.
