Vicious Osprey Attack
Well, this is a far cry from last week's confidence
The Osprey have waged all-out war on the Eaglet.
Yesterday, 2 osprey attacked baby in the early afternoon. Then, soon after, a group of 6 osprey arrived in a V-formation and viciously attacked the eaglet. Eagle parents were nowhere around.
Bird experts in the area have never heard of such behavior before.
Baby managed to make it to his nest where he hid for 6 hours. Reports were that his talon or leg was injured. Some of us who have become so attached to eaglet were scared to death, and kept vigil.
At about 6 PM last night, one of the parents finally showed up. Baby had a complete meltdown( see above). The other parent came and kept lookout in a nearby tree.
Baby cried, and there was much squawking by the parents, a conversation that lasted about 15 minutes.
Those of us who were keeping watch were unsure whether the parents brought any food to the baby.

Baby still terrorized, although it did take a little spin around the area, so we know it can fly and land.

oh, no -- this natural selection thing is not for the faint of heart.
