Day Two at Fat Camp
OK The deal here is: 4 hours of lectures, 2 hours of exercise, plus "elective" exercise classes and 5 meals. I am dead beat. And I did not even do the 2 hours of "required" exercise (did do a 1 hr aquatics)!
Classes today:
Calorie density
Diseases of affluence
Vitamins and minerals
Taking charge of stress (I am taking charge of my stress by skipping this one)
Meals:
Oatmeal, pumpkin soup, sweet potato and apple salad, tofu stir fry, chopped salad, bloody mary (virgin), strawberry yogurt and some other stuff......too healthy for words.
Most people here love it, although one lady tonight said that it was the freakiest place she'd ever been. A lot of the clients are repeaters who come once or twice a year.
Well, I am still of mixed emotion. We'll see how it shakes out. Meantime, here are some photos.

And Now For Something Completely Different!
Fred is going on hiatus for a week or so, while we bring you this from your sponsor.
Momma's gone to the Fat Farm!
I just arrived here today at Pritikin Longevity Center in beautiful Miami, Fl.
The idea here, as far as I can tell so far, is to exercise a person to death whilst giving multiple lectures, and feeding them rabbit food.
I arrived and was whisked on a fast paced tour of the Center which is situated at the Doral Marriott.
BP was taken, and off we went to the room. Note the lamentable absence of Gallo single serving and the presence of (shudder) water.
Here is my view of the golf course

Next, off to get some lunch. Oh my, what they serve here! It seems that the norm is to fill a huge salad bowl up with lettuce and vegetables and eat that! There was also a veggie lasagna that was full of chopped brown stuff...kinda tasted like baked day old beans and mushrooms.......was not a fan of that! That explains the big bowl of lettuce/vegetables...the other stuff is a bit, shall we say, untasty.
You can have a nice water with lunch, sparkling or still!
Next, I raced off to the MD who gave me a quick once over and pronounced me healthy enough to proceed, despite those pesky major joints.
Next off to the exercise room to learn how to use a machine (NU STEP?) and sign up for one, or preferably more, classes.
At this point, I am wondering if I have completely fallen down the rabbit hole.... I don't think that this is the place for me...
They don't believe in caffeine here, but I have been down the withdrawal road before, and have absolutely no desire to repeat it. Besides, some days, caffeine is the best part of a day, no? So, I did figure out a way around it---called the front desk and told the to bring me a coffee maker, coffee, and sugar and creamer.....Uh oh, rebelling already! But at least I can crawl out of bed tomorrow.
The day is jam packed. Even since I arrived, I have missed classes on Nutrition Priorities, Diseases of Affluence, a cooking school, and an aerobics and pool class! The pressure is already overwhelming.
So, I am closing to head over to "Snack", then Label Reading, then dinner, then Fueling the Healthy Body.
Yowza.

The benefits of weight loss
Old Fred was getting a bit chubby last year, so he had to go on an exercise/weight loss plan...... although the knee injury has definitely put a kybosh on the exercise part of the plan. When Fred was a baby he loved to hide under the high bed here. But as the pounds packed on, he could no longer fit.
Well, he was thrilled to find out last week that he can now den away under the bed again!

If you steal some clothes, it can get super cosy!
Course, ya gotta bring the ball
If you get right in the middle, no one can reach you, especially if you have a stolen sock or something like that. There was that one time when I ate a sock whole, and then threw it up, whole, five days later.
Pretty cute, huh?
Ouch!!! Still a tight fit.

Momma got a brand new camera!
And now, for some birds!
These birds enjoy the sandbar past which the dolphins have been "romping" (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
