Whidden's Marina

Whidden's Marina is just the epitome of Old Boca fishing village life.
I took the girls on a field trip here today, while Fred was stuck sitting around the house with his inner tube around his head.

This place has everything!
2 pigs
2 ducks
1 (or more) bird
A baby
A museum
A gift shop
A ship's store
A dock
Fishing captains
Shrimp and other bait
Gas

These occupants may also bite

Shrimp to be used as bait is also for sale. On the Honor System.

Whidden's is gaily decorated:

Well, I could not find the dance floor, but there are instructions nonetheless:

Company is coming!

It's a new day in Boca, the sun is rising, the fishermen/people are fishing, and we are getting ready for company!

Hurray! Company is coming!

My friends from college: Mary, Netto and Sheila.  We met each other in 1972 on the first day of our freshman year at good ol' Siwash: Knox College.
We lived in a big old haunted building built in 1857 called Whiting Hall .
On the 4th floor, which was the top floor. I cannot begin to tell you all the opportunities living on the fourth floor presented!
These were  the days when BOYS were only allowed on the floor at certain hours and with notice----by yelling "MAN ON FLOOR"!!!!! Always an interesting event. All the girls would loiter nonchalantly  around their rooms, waiting to see whoooooo or what would come up those stairs.
Actually, no outsiders were allowed upstairs without going through the Front Desk. The Front Desk would call up on a hundred year old intercom: Sheila, you have a Visitor (this means a girl visitor), OR--- Sheila, you have a Caller (ooooh, a BOY Visitor!!!!)
Another really diverting activity took place in Sheila and Mary's room. They did have another roommate for a while, but  they ran her off...  Cindy. She was replaced by Carolyn, like Mary, from beautiful Quincy , IL.  (known as the murder capital of the state at that time.)  I'm not sure whether Carolyn really went to school during our freshman year, or just hung out in the room.
Their room was directly above the Grand Entrance to Whiting Hall. This is where BOYS would drop their dates off  "after hours" (Maybe like nine o'clock? ). We would watch every kind of awkwardness unfold.... Sometimes we would drop things on these unsuspecting victims-- water balloons, jujubees... you know, that kind of stuff.
There was no way to keep us off the roof in nice weather. We were fairly ingenious and could remove any window and any screen. Lord, I am glad we all were fairly co-ordinated and never fell off. Otherwise I'd be telling a different story.
The roof usually included candy, black slips and lots of heckling.  Sometimes we would blast  "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by Bette Midler, and dance....Oh, what fun.... If we were feeling sedate, it was "Nights in White Satin" by the Moody Blues.

The last time Mary Sheila, Netto and I got together was in Milwaukee. Mary got to bottle beer, just like Laverne and Shirley:

Sheila, Netto and I took a rest.

Still a bit cranky, but feeling better

You know you are a Lab who is feeling better when:
 toilet paper rolls look like a gourmet snack again;
when going down the stairs means trying to take the last 2 in one step,
Winston???
Molly????

when it's of the greatest importance to know if Winston and Molly, the English Springer Spaniels are in town

A moment of drug free clarity--

Hmmm, that did not last long...........

A little 'tude  coming on

OK, so let's review...shall we:
Vets....are BAD
Drugs...are GOOD
Look Fred, some of us would kill to complain about laying on the floor, drugged and sleeping all day....WITH an inner tube protecting our head. SO stay on the floor, on the drugs and away from the vet. But above all try to look at the "Glass Half Full", ok dude??? Your life sounds pretty good to me right now...xoxo
Better sign this one..,

Not so fast!

Whoa, the vet decided it was time to cut way back on the meds......not so fast!!
It was a terrible night, full of scary things until my mom double dosed me once again.
Ugg... bad night

Hey, YOU try having your tibia cut and rotated!
AND, this inner Tube is hot, especially here at the Equator.

Do I LOOK happy?

Wow, it has certainly been a hard week. We arrived in Boca a week ago with dreams of golf cart rides, dog park, chasing iguanas, playing in the pool, long walks on the beach, chasing sea birds, and other doggie delights.
Golf cartin' with the Poes

Boca dog park

Dog park is thirsty work

Beach
and pool
Happier times!

But, no.  Instead it's been vets, drugs, and lying around with an inner Tube around my head.  Oh, and some kind of bug bites wherever my beautiful shiny, glossy fur has been shaven.  Plus, it's about a hundred degrees here.
Do I look happy?????
