A cairn (carn in Irish, carnedd in Welsh, càrn in Scots Gaelic) is a human-made pile of stones, often in conical form. They are usually found inuplands, on moorland, on mountaintops, or near waterways.

These craaazzzzy a** hikers, who do strange things like climb up mountains to see what's there?????? Huh? 

Easy answer. The top of the mountain. Duh.

But they leave strange things to show they were there to the next crazy a** hiker who also climbs up there to see 

what's there.

The Bad, The Ugly, and some Good

That Bull Elk I have been photographing? That Magnificent Beast?
Some moron with a bow and arrow came in this neighborhood, and illegally shot him.  He has been seen, with an arrow between his shoulder blades.

But last night all was eerily quiet here....no bugling, none of the normal sounds of the elk. Just a stray bird here and there

The only bright spot in this mess is that someone locally has hired a tracker.  24 hours, though, and still no Elk.

Minidoka Relocation Camp

This is what is left of the "V Garden" The Garden was planted just behind the Declaration of  Honor, in which residents pledged their allegiance to the US

About 10,000 people of Japanese descent were relocated to this Camp in southern Idaho after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Over 100,000 Japanese Americans were held in camps and Army bases.... there is very little left here other than parts of the Guard House, Visitor Waiting Room, and a portion of the V Garden.
